Martes en la octava de pascua 14 de abril de 2020 San Juan 20: 11-18 En el Evangelio de hoy, María Magdalena no reconoce al Señor resucitado. Ella piensa que él es el jardinero. Esto tiene sentido. San Juan nos dice que la tumba de Jesús estaba en un jardín. Sin embargo, hay algo muy interesante aquí. Los efectos del pecado: enfermedad, dolor y muerte, comenzaron con el pecado de Adán en un jardín. Ahora, la vida y la esperanza del "Nuevo Adán", Jesús, también encuentran sus comienzos en un jardín. En realidad, Mary lo hizo bien: Jesús es El Jardinero. Tuesday in the Octave of Easter April 14, 2020 St. John 20:11-18 In today’s Gospel, Mary Magdalene doesn’t recognize the Risen Lord. She thinks he is the gardener. This makes good sense. St. John tells us that the tomb of Jesus was in a garden. However, there is something very interesting here. The effects of sin: sickness, pain and death, began with the sin of the Adam in a garden. Now, the life and hope of the "New Adam," Jesus, find their beginnings in a garden as well. Actually, Mary got it right – Jesus is THE Gardener. He is the one who brings life from the earth (Book of Genesis). He brings the dead back to life (Lazarus). He is the Word of his Father who gives us the sacramental waters of Baptism. (Crucifixion) Suggestion: Do something in your garden today to remind you of the new life of the Risen Lord.

La octava de Pascua es el período de 8 días en el tiempo de Pascua que comienza el domingo de Pascua y concluye con el domingo siguiente. ¿Cuál es la razón de una octava? El motivo es simple. What do we mean by the Octave of Easter? The Octave of Easter is the 8 day period in Easter time that starts on Easter Sunday and concludes with the following Sunday. What is the reason for an Octave? The reason is simple. The mystery is so profound that the Church wants it celebrated for more than a 24 hour period. In this way people get a chance to engage in the mystery all the more. In short, each day of the octave is celebrated as if it were the feast/solemnity itself! Palm Sunday The friars walked through the neighborhoods around Gonzaque Village carrying the Blessed Sacrament and distributing palms. As always, the people were grateful beyond words. It is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. A blessed Holy Week to all.

The Franciscan Coat of Arms is a specifically Franciscan symbol. In the background of the image is the Tau Cross. Palm Sunday – Distribution of Palms Since there will be no Mass on Palm Sunday, and the Archdiocese has asked that we not encourage people to come to the church to get palms, the Capuchin Friars will begin walking through the neighborhoods handing out blessed palms. Tonight we will be walking the area of 92nd to Manchester between Compton and Elm. Please tell your neighbors. We cannot have a procession or gathering.
