11th Sunday in Ordinary TIme June 13, 2021 This parable is one of abundance and surprise. The farmer is planting a seed that most farmers do not want; it is a pest. It takes over the entire field. This plant will choke other plants. The surprise grabs the people. The reign of God is like that. It will take over once it takes root. Jesus listeners did not see this coming!

This jubilant festival is celebrated by Roman Catholics and other Christians to proclaim the truth of the transubstantiation of bread and wine into the actual body of Christ during Mass. The Solemnity of Corpus Christi was instituted by Pope Urban IV in 1264. The Eucharist is the real presence of Jesus Christ: His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. As vaccinations increase and restrictions are lessened, we have the opportunity to once again be in Church with our Lord in his Eucharistic presence.
