Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus – the Eucharist. Today's Gospel gives us a glimpse of what is to come at the Last Supper. Here Jesus feeds 5,000 men (10,000 or more if women and children are included) with fish and bread. Jesus will feed millions with his own Body and Blood. The message behind the Eucharist: humble and servant leadership. Jesus shows us this in a powerful way, namely by washing the feet of his apostles. We, too, are called to give; perhaps not our life for Christ, but certainly our time, talent, and treasure, and with a spirit of humility.
