25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mark 8:27-35 

Jesus is returning to Galilee. He has mentioned his second “passion prediction.” The disciples do not want to hear about his suffering, death, burial, and then resurrection. However, he emphasizes that “greatness” will come only by servant leadership – and this will entail sacrifice and suffering. This is difficult to hear at times, let alone live. Yet, it comes with the greatest of rewards – eternal life.
