Every Sunday the priest holds up the Body of Christ we hear the words of John the Baptist, “Behold the
Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world...” This is the reason Jesus came to earth. As the
Christmas hymn, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, says, “Born that man no more may die.” Through his
death on the cross, Jesus came to show us the love of his Father. As the lamb of sacrifice we are united
to him in a unique way when we receive Him in the Eucharist. Let us make the above citation our prayer
when we receive Him in Holy Communion. In this way, we will never forget Him or the Father’s love.
