29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mark 10: 35 - 45 

This Sunday’s Gospel shows that, yet again, the disciples still don’t get it. This time, Jesus' “inner circle” are asking for the highest places of honor. They still misunderstand that the Messiah must suffer, die and rise on the third day.  Instead, they are focused on themselves. We are often like Jesus closest friends. We still struggle to understand that life won’t be easy; we will suffer, too. However, we must also must remember that Jesus is closer to us during those moments than the peaceful ones.
