Jesus established this beautiful sacrament to wash us of our sins and restore us through his love. Acknowledging our sins before a priest puts us in the presence of Christ himself and allows us to be reconciled to God. If you would like Christ's forgiveness, confession is available on Saturdays-from 4:30pm - 5:15pm or by appointment. For an appointment call (323) 567-1439.
Our Catholic Church teaches that marriage is a sacrament, a symbol of the love of Jesus Christ for his people, the Church. As a sacrament, marriage is also a covenant by which a man and a woman establish a partnership of the whole of life. Marriage is also ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children. It is meant to be a life-long commitment, until death. Catholic parishes have the responsibility of assisting couples to understand and to prepare for the responsibilities of the sacrament of marriage.
Listening to Jesus' command to "Do this in remembrance of me," First Communion / Holy Eucharist unites an individual to God and the Catholic faithful through the reception of Our Lord at Mass. If you have a child who is ready for first Communion (age 7) call the Religious Education office at 323 567-4698. Class are held on Saturday. For adults call the parish office at 323 567-1439. Class are held on Sunday.
The Sacrament of Confirmation, along with Baptism and Eucharist, is one of the three sacraments of initiation into the Catholic faith. At Confirmation, the Holy Spirit strengthens the baptized Christian and endows the person with the seven gifts that enable us to carry out our mission to be Christ in the world and to continue building God’s kingdom.
God calls all people to serve him through a particular vocation in life. If you feel God is calling you to serve as a priest, a Capuchin Franciscan vocation begins with prayer and personal reflection. As Capuchin Franciscans we follow St. Francis of Assisi as a brother, living the Gospel in prayer. Check out our website (www.olacapuchins.org) to learn more about our way of life. Talking to our vocation director along with going on a "Come and See" weekend can really help to determine if you have a true calling to be a Capuchin brother or priest.
