3nd Sunday in Lent

Luke 13: 1 – 9   

Lent is a 40-day retreat about repentance and conversion. Today, we hear the story of the Fig Tree. If we repent, what is God’s response? The answer is found in today’s Gospel. God will work with us like a gardener. He will care for us with kindness and love.   He will strengthen and nurture us back to health. In this way, we will produce good fruit, namely, acts of mercy and love. And, through us, others will see the Kingdom of God is indeed at hand.
