5 Sunday in Lent

John 8:1-11

“Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.” The woman hears these last words from Jesus at the conclusion of her terrifying ordeal. Instead of being stoned, she is blessed. Jesus honors her in the midst of her shame and leaves her with this simple counsel.  Jesus honors us in our shame whenever we go to confession. He saves us through love.  Let us do the same for others.  St. John of the Cross wrote, “In the evening of life we will be judged on love alone.”
