Why would Jesus be concerned that the disciples’ hearts might be troubled? They are anxious
because Jesus has just rushed them out from the Cenacle where they had gathered for
Passover. The meal is not yet over. However, Judas has left. He will soon return with a cohort
of soldiers ready to arrest Jesus. And yet, Jesus has more to tell them, so he uses this journey to
the Garden of Olives for this purpose. Jesus always has more to say to us, too. However, we are
now the ones who are always in a rush. We don’t take time to talk and listen to him. Let’s listen
to him as we go about our day. You never know what he may want to tell us.
