John the Baptist is a servant leader with a humble heart. He says that he is not worthy of the people’s praise. He is serving the one who will appear shortly, Jesus the Christ. To whom can we be a servant leader? Whose “shoe can we untie,” and free them from some burden in a spiritual or material sense? Whose soul can we wash with a kind word or gesture? This is being a servant leader in today’s world. This is how we point to the Lord in 2020.
