The story of the man born blind is the story of our spiritual blindness. Saint Augustine writes,

“This blind man is the human race.” Due to this “original sin” of Adam and Eve we are born with

a spiritual blindness. It is only through God’s initiative, namely, grace, that we are able to see

the truth, namely, Jesus Christ. Let us open ourselves to God’s transforming grace by joining the

blind man in saying, “I do believe, Lord.”
