Meal Distribution Program "For I was hungry and you fed me...." St. Lawrence of Brindisi parish is a meal center of breakfast and lunch for anyone or family who needs to eat. Ayer los Padres Miguel, Joseph Seraphin y Matt (con dos feligreses) caminaron con el Santísimo Sacramento en Nickerson Gardens y sus alrededores. Una vez más, la gente salió, se arrodilló y adoró al Señor, muchos con oraciones llenas de lágrimas. Un joven, al oír sonar la campana, salió corriendo de su unidad, se arrodilló en medio de la acera y, con abundantes lágrimas, confesó sus pecados y pidió el perdón de Dios por sus pecados. No fue diferente al ejemplo de la mujer lavando los pies de Jesús con sus lágrimas y secándolos con su cabello. Fue extremadamente conmovedor. Yesterday, Frs. Miguel, Joseph Seraphin and Matt (with two parishioners) walked with the Blessed Sacrament in and around Nickerson Gardens. Once again, people came out, knelt down and adored the Lord, many with tearfilled prayers. One young man, hearing the bell ringing, rushed out of his unit, knelt down in the middle of the sidewalk, and with copious tears, confessed his sins, asking for God’s forgiveness for his misdeeds. It was not unlike the example of the woman washing the feet of Jesus with her tears and drying them with her hair. It was extremely moving. This is but one example of the profound love, devotion and loss that this community is experiencing with the closure of our church doors.

A Moment: To be Endured or Time to be Renewed as St. Lawrence of Brindisi Parish? "How can a person once grown old be reborn again." Jn 3:4 Religious communities hold local chapters (think “family meeting”) to discuss their way of life and ministry. Yesterday at our local chapter we raised the question, “How will we use this time of crisis/restrictions to renew ourselves and emerge all the stronger as Capuchins?” I would ask that of the parish as well.
