Procesión con el Santísimo Sacramento Caminata de oración por la paz Sábado, 3 de octubre de 2020 Como parte de nuestra novena a San Francisco de Asís, tendremos una Caminata de Oración con el Santísimo Sacramento por las calles de Watts el 3 de octubre de 2020. Nos reuniremos en el estacionamiento de la parroquia a las 3:15. Caminaremos durante una hora y regresaremos a tiempo para prepararnos para una misa bilingüe a las 5:30 pm. Nuevamente, nuestra caminata de oración es por la paz en nuestra comunidad y país.

Procession with the Blessed Sacrament Prayer Walk for Peace Saturday, October 3, 2020 As part of our novena to St. Francis of Assisi, we will have a Prayer Walk with the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Watts on October 3, 2020. We will gather in the parish parking lot at 3:15. We will walk for an hour and return in time to prepare for a bilingual Mass at 5:30pm. Again, our prayer walk is for peace in our community and country.

Buscamos la fe, la esperanza y el amor que les permitió seguir con alegría a nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Ore por nosotros para que podamos ayudar a los necesitados. La oficina de Educación Religiosa de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles nos ha recomendado no precipitarnos en el inicio del nuevo año sin hacer un plan completo. September 9, 2020 SLB Office of Religious Education Dear Parents, Welcome to the 2020-21 Religious Education/Confirmation Programs. When you registered your son/daughter, we said that our programs would begin on September 12. The Office of Religious Education of the Archdiocese has recommended that we do not rush into a new year without complete planning. Our number one priority remains the health of your child. We are in contact with the Archdiocese as to their latest updates for this year’s programs. We are forming a committee which will include: 1. The Pastor 2. Director of Religious Education and her assistant 3. The parish book keeper/ business manager 4. A health person who can keep us advised on the latest update 5. A set of parents from the Confirmation program and Catechism program We will also be contacting you (phone calls, email, WhatsApp, etc.) to ask for your suggestions. The Bishops of the United States have asked all Catholics to observe a day of fast and prayer on the feast of St. Peter Claver on September 9. St. Peter Claver was a priest and confessor, Patron of the missions to African people and human rights defender. The day of fast and prayer is for the purpose of ending prejudice and racism in the United States and world.

Sargento Jones y yo pasamos casi 2 horas en el estacionamiento del Café Oaxaca conversando visitando a personas que vinieron a discutir preocupaciones familiares, horas de la misa dominical, Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA), Programas de 12 Pasos, entre otras cosas. Vinculamos a un hombre con un trabajo. La semana pasada, un trabajador postal (nacido y criado en Watts) se acercó al sargento Jones y le agradeció por todo lo que LAPD ha hecho por la gente de Watts; otro le pidió ayuda al sargento con un asunto policial. Sgt. Jones and I spent almost 2 hours in the parking lot of Café Oaxaca talking visiting with people who came to discuss family concerns, hours of Sunday Mass, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), 12 Step Programs, among other things. We linked one man with a job. Last week a postal worker (born and raised in Watts) came up to Sgt. Jones and thanked him for all the LAPD has done for the people in Watts – another asked the Sgt. for help with a police matter. Since the lanes narrow to one where we stand we also talk to the people as they sit in their cars waiting for the light to turn – sometimes it is about their music, their car, or the beauty of a baby. We wave to the people; they wave back and smile. It’s all good! We have been doing this for some time now, however, this is the first time we posted it and encouraged people to come by. We are at corner of Century and Central every Wednesday from 11:00am- 12:30/1:00pm Come and join us with questions for the police and a blessing from the Padre.
