Bautismo del señor 9 de enero de 2022 Lucas 3: 15-16, 21-22 Hoy, Jesús muestra su disposición a obedecer a Su Padre. Ser bautizado en el río Jordán fue una emersión ritual de morir y resucitar. Era una forma simbólica de decir "Sí" al plan de su Padre para nuestra salvación, es decir, su muerte en la cruz y su resurrección final. Baptism of the Lord January 9, 2022 Luke 3:15-16, 21-22 Today, Jesus shows his willingness to obey His Father. Being baptized in the River Jordan was a ritual emersion of dying and rising. It was a symbolic way of saying “Yes” to his Father’s plan for our salvation, namely, his death on the cross and ultimate resurrection. We experience our personal baptism daily whenever we say “No” to sin and “Yes” to God’s grace. We choose good over evil. In this way, we show our willingness to obey the Father by living the two great commandments, love of God and love of neighbor.

Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord January 2, 2022 Matthew 2: 1 – 12 Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord, also known as the Feast of the Three Kings. The kings, or Magi, who come to adore the Christ Child and offer Him their gifts, represent us, all the nations. Today, Jesus is manifested as the King of Kings to all people. Let us renew our efforts to be that “shining star” who manifests Jesus to the world through our works of mercy and charity. May the Blessed Mother, the Star of Evangelization, inspire us to lead others to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Feast of the Holy Family December 26, 2021 Luke 2: 41 – 52 The story of Jesus being left behind at the temple is unique to Luke. It is also the only event associated with his childhood. When Mary and Joseph find Him, they ask, “Why have you done this to us.” His response, “I must be about my Father’s business.” Yet, He returns to Nazareth and is obedient to them where He grew in “wisdom and age and favor before God and man.” Obedience means “to listen to.” When we listen to the Lord (aka, obedient) we, too will grow in wisdom and age before God.” This is where true happiness will be found.

4° domingo de Adviento 19 de diciembre de 2021 Lucas 1: 39 - 44 El profeta Miqueas habla sobre el nacimiento de un líder para Israel que será un rey pastor. Su poderoso reinado traerá seguridad y paz. Lo que Miqueas espera con palabras se convierte en carne y hueso en la persona de Jesús. La fe de María dice que las promesas del Señor ciertamente encontrarán cumplimiento en ella. Esas promesas encuentran cumplimiento en nosotros a través de nuestra disposición a decir: "¡Sí!" al Señor. Proclamamos, de palabra y de acción, que "Jesucristo es el Señor".

4th Sunday in Advent December 19, 2021 Luke 1: 39 – 44 The Prophet Micah speaks about the birth of a leader for Israel who will be a shepherd king. His powerful reign will bring security and peace. What Micah looks forward to in words becomes flesh and blood in the person of Jesus. Mary’s faith says that promises of the Lord would indeed find fulfilment in her. Those promises find fulfillment in us through our willingness to say, “Yes!” to the Lord. We proclaim, in word and in action, that “Jesus Christ is Lord.”

3er domingo de Adviento Domingo Gaudete 12 de diciembre de 2021 Lucas 3: 10-18 Continuamos nuestra historia con Juan el Bautista mientras nos "regocijamos" de que el nacimiento de Jesús está cerca. La semana pasada lo escuchamos hablar sobre el arrepentimiento. En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús habla a 3 grupos específicos y una virtud específica que necesitan promover. A los soldados les habla de paz; a los recaudadores de impuestos, justicia; a la gente, compasión. ¿Qué virtudes específicas debemos abordar para estar preparados para la venida del Señor, ahora y en su Segunda Venida?

3rd Sunday in Advent Gaudete Sunday December 12, 2021 Luke 3: 10 – 18 Rejoice! His Coming is Near! We continue our story with John the Baptist as we “rejoice” that the birth of Jesus is near. Last week we heard him speak about repentance. In today’s Gospel Jesus speaks to three specific groups and a specific virtue that they need to promote. To the soldiers, he speaks of peace; to the tax collectors, justice; to the people, compassion. What specific virtues do we need to address so as to be ready for the coming of the Lord, now and at his Second Coming?
