7º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 20 de febrero de 2022 Lucas 6:27-38 Jesús comienza a enseñar a sus discípulos sobre el amor, en particular, hacia tus enemigos y los que te odian. El amor en el mundo bíblico significaba “permanecer apegado” o en relación con los demás. Asimismo, el odio significaba estar desapegado, no estar en relación. ¿Cuál es el secreto de esta difícil enseñanza? Debemos permanecer unidos al Señor. Si lo hacemos, no nos desligaremos de nadie. Difícil, sí; imposible, "No", a través de la gracia de Dios. Nuestro apego a Él será la fuente de nuestro éxito, la vida eterna.

7th Sunday in Ordinary Time February 20, 2022 Luke 6:27-38 Jesus starts teaching his disciples about love, in particular, as regards your enemies and those who hate you. Love in the biblical world meant “remaining attached” or in relationship with others. Likewise, hate meant being detached, not being in relationship. What is the secret to this difficult teaching? We must remain attached to the Lord. If we do, we will not detach ourselves from anyone. Difficult, yes; impossible, “No,” through God’s grace. Our attachment to Him will be the source of our success, eternal life.

5º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 6 de febrero de 2022 Lucas 5: 1 – 11 Esta semana escuchamos la historia de Pedro, Santiago y Juan siendo abrumados por el majestuoso poder de Dios. Siguiendo el mandato de Jesús, han pescado tantos peces que temen su poder. Tienen un sentido de su indignidad en la presencia de lo Divino. Este es uno de los dones del Espíritu Santo llamado Temor del Señor. No tiene nada que ver con temer a un Dios vengativo y enojado. Más bien, se trata de ser abrumado por un Dios amoroso y compasivo, y darnos cuenta de lo desvalidos que estamos siendo amigos de Dios. Su abandono de sus barcos/medios de vida y seguir a Jesús es un símbolo de su nuevo viaje, es decir, dejar de lado sus viejas ideas del Señor y abrazar otras nuevas que hablan de su amor y misericordia. Oremos por este don maravilloso para conocer a nuestro Padre.

5th Sunday in Ordinary Time February 6, 2022 Luke 5: 1 – 11 This week we hear the story of Peter, James and John being overwhelmed by the majestic power of God. Following Jesus command, they have caught so many fish that they are in fear of his power. They have a sense of their unworthiness in the presence of the Divine. This is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit called, Fear of the Lord. It has nothing to do with fearing a vengeful, angry God. Rather, it about being overwhelmed by a loving, compassionate God – and realizing how underserving we are being God’s friends. Their abandonment of their boats/livelihood and following Jesus is symbolic of their new journey, namely, letting go of their old ideas of The Lord and embracing new ones that speak to his love and mercy. Let us pray for this wonderful gift so as to know our Father.

4º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 30 de enero de 2022 Lucas 4:21-30 Hoy continuamos con la “Parte 2” del Evangelio de la semana pasada. Jesús ha entrado en la sinagoga de su ciudad natal de Nazaret y ha leído un pasaje de Isaías que habla directamente del Mesías mismo. Concluye con sus propias palabras: “Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura delante de vosotros”. Cuando Jesús invoca a Elías y Eliseo como referencias al Mesías que viene a salvar a los gentiles ante los judíos, se indignan. Quieren matarlo. Usemos este pasaje para preguntarnos: “¿Cuán inclusivo soy de aquellos que son diferentes a mí?” ¿"Muestro" mi fe católica dándoles la bienvenida a mi forma de pensar, a mi mundo? Oremos para que la gente esté “asombrada” por nuestros hechos y acciones.

4th Sunday in Ordinary Time January 30, 2022 Luke 4:21-30 Today we continue with “Part 2” of last week’s Gospel. Jesus has entered the synagogue in his home town of Nazareth and has read a passage from Isaiah which speaks directly about the Messiah Himself. He concludes with his own words, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” When Jesus invokes Elijah and Elisha as references to the Messiah coming to save the Gentiles before the Jews, they are incensed. They want to kill him. Let us use this passage to ask ourselves, “How inclusive am I of those who are different than I?” Do I “display” my Catholic faith by welcoming them into my mindset, my world? Let’s pray that people are “amazed” by our deeds and actions.
