Thank you for your generosity! The raffle was ended on Sunday June 4th for a charity at the evangelization group Food Sale. These were the winners! From the Family Evangelization Group of the San Lorenzo de Brindisi Parish thank you so much for your support to those who purchased raffle tickets.

Dios ama al mundo. En el Medio Oriente la palabra “amar” significa “estar apegado a otro persona." Las Tres Personas de la Santísima Trinidad son una comunidad de amor; permanecen unidos entre sí por la mayor de las virtudes, el amor. Estamos llamados a crear un comunidad al estar unidos unos a otros de la misma manera, es decir, a través del amor.

God loves the world. In the Middle East the word “to love” means “to be attached to another person.” The Three Persons of the Blessed Trinity are a community of love; they remain attached to each other through the greatest of virtues, love. We are called to create a community by being attached to each other in the same way, namely, through love.

¿Por qué celebrar la Ascensión del Señor al cielo? Este evento revela que nuestra existencia terrenal es temporal. Jesús asciende, en su cuerpo glorificado, al cielo, nuestro último hogar. Las palabras “y una nube lo ocultó de sus ojos” representa la entrada de su humanidad en la gloria divina. Esto es algo que nosotros también disfrutaremos en la Segunda Venida del Señor. Mientras tanto, ¡vayamos por todo el mundo y proclamemos que Jesús es el Señor!

Why celebrate the into heaven? This event reveals that our earthly existence is temporary. Jesus ascends, in his glorified body, into heaven, our final home. The words, “and a cloud took him from their sight” represents the entry of his humanity into divine glory. This is something that we, too, will enjoy at the Second Coming of the Lord. In the meantime, let us “Go into the whole world and proclaim that ‘Jesus is Lord’!”

¿Por qué se preocuparía Jesús de que el corazón de los discípulos pudiera estar turbado? Están ansiosos porque Jesús acaba de sacarlos del Cenáculo donde se habían reunido para la Pascua. La comida aún no ha terminado. Sin embargo, Judas se ha ido. Pronto regresará con una cohorte de soldados listos para arrestar a Jesús. Y, sin embargo, Jesús tiene más que decirles, por lo que utiliza este viaje al Huerto de los Olivos para este propósito. Jesús siempre tiene más que decirnos también. Sin embargo, ahora somos nosotros los que siempre tenemos prisa. No nos tomamos el tiempo para hablar y escucharlo. Escuchémoslo a medida que avanzamos en nuestro día. Nunca se sabe lo que puede querer decirnos.

Why would Jesus be concerned that the disciples’ hearts might be troubled? They are anxious because Jesus has just rushed them out from the Cenacle where they had gathered for Passover. The meal is not yet over. However, Judas has left. He will soon return with a cohort of soldiers ready to arrest Jesus. And yet, Jesus has more to tell them, so he uses this journey to the Garden of Olives for this purpose. Jesus always has more to say to us, too. However, we are now the ones who are always in a rush. We don’t take time to talk and listen to him. Let’s listen to him as we go about our day. You never know what he may want to tell us.

La historia de los Discípulos en el camino a Emaús habla de cómo “les ardía el corazón mientras les explicaba las Escrituras”. Pasajes familiares ahora les hablaban de una manera nueva, una que revelaba que Jesús era el Mesías Prometido. ¿Qué hacen? Deben regresar a Jerusalén y compartir su experiencia. Cuando descubrimos al Señor Resucitado de una manera nueva, no tenemos más remedio que compartir la emoción de este encuentro. Las Escrituras hablarán a nuestros corazones si las abrimos a Su Palabra. En otras palabras, “Todos nuestros caminos pueden conducir a una experiencia Emaús”.

The story of the Disciples on the way to Emmaus speaks of how “their hearts were burning as he explained the Scriptures” to them. Familiar passages now spoke to them in a new way, one that revealed that Jesus was the Promised Messiah. What do they do? They must return to Jerusalem and share their experience. When we discover the Risen Lord in a new way, we have no choice but to share the excitement of this encounter. The Scriptures will speak to our hearts if we but open them to His Word. In other words, “All of our roads can lead to an Emmaus experience.”
