God has established a sacrament for healing in illness (both physical and spiritual) and preparation for death and entrance into new life in heaven. If you or a loved one is sick or dying and would like to receive special sacramental prayers and anointing, please contact us and be assured of our prayers with you and for you in this time.
This program prepares adults who have not received all or some of the sacraments. Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation. Please call the office for the number of the person in charge of the program.
Following the example set by Jesus, baptism initiates an individual into the Christian community. If you or your child would like to begin your Christian life as part of our community please contact us. English baptisms 1st Saturday. Spanish 2nd, 3rd and 4th Saturdays. Call at least one month in advance.
At St. Lawrence of Brindisi, children receive two years of sacramental preparation before receiving the Eucharist regardless of what age or grade level students enter into the program. Typically children receive First Eucharist in the 2nd grade however, we do have special classes designed for children who enter the program after 2nd grade. Students must be enrolled in our Religious Education program in order to participate.
Listening to Jesus' command to "Do this in remembrance of me," First Communion / Holy Eucharist unites an individual to God and the Catholic faithful through the reception of Our Lord at Mass. The Eucharist brings us into one body and provides the graces to love and serve God and each other more faithfully.
Do you have a child who is ready for first Communion (age 7)?
Call the Religious Education office at 323 567-4698. Classes are held on Saturday.
For adults call the parish office at 323 567-1439. Classes are held on Sunday.
Our Catholic Church teaches that marriage is a sacrament, a symbol of the love of Jesus Christ for his people, the Church. As a sacrament, marriage is also a covenant by which a man and a woman establish a partnership of the whole of life. Marriage is also ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children. It is meant to be a life-long commitment, until death. Catholic parishes have the responsibility of assisting couples to understand and to prepare for the responsibilities of the sacrament of marriage.
Jesus established this beautiful sacrament to wash us of our sins and restore us through his love. Acknowledging our sins before a priest puts us in the presence of Christ himself and allows us to be reconciled to God.
